Winning Miss Universe 2017 belongs to South Africa’s Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters. She has been named the most beautiful girl in the universe not only for her physical beauty but also for her effortless elegance and intelligence.
The show took place Sunday night at The AXIS, Planet Hollywood, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. It was moderated by Steve Harvey and luckily the mistake of 2015 wasn’t repeated. The winner was correctly announced this time in the early hours of Monday morning.
Grammy Award winners Fergie and Rachel Platte performed during the ceremony. She emerged victorious from over 90 applicants and has brought the crown back to South Africa since 1978.
First and second runners-up were Laura Gonzalez of Colombia and Davina Bennett of Jamaica. Demi thanked her and dedicated the award to her home country, South Africa.
During the competition she represented Western Cape. As the winner of the contest, Demi qualified to represent SA at both Miss World and Miss Universe.Due to a conflict in the dates of both contests, the organizers decided to send her to the Miss Universe contest. A choice that seems to be the best at the moment.
As Miss Universe, Demi will move to New York where she will carry out her duties. Apart from her luxury apartment, she would be paid a fantastic salary package for a year.
During the question and answer segment, Demi didn’t disappoint her homeland and her international fans. The SA Queen showed her inner strength and confidence while answering her questions during the Nevada festival.

“What quality are you most proud of about yourself and how will you apply that quality to your time as Miss Universe?”
Demi confidently replied like this:
“As Miss Universe you have to be confident in who you are as an individual. And Miss Universe is a woman who has overcome many fears and can therefore help other women to overcome their fears. She’s a woman who wants nothing too much, and I think that’s exactly what I am. “
This appeared to be a certain reiteration of the brilliance displayed during her crowning as Miss South Africa. Throughout the competition, the judges discovered and repeatedly pointed out her “attitude and intelligence”.
When asked for your point of view, what would be the most important issue regarding women in the workplace. She advocated equal pay, saying that women around the world should be paid the same as men for the same job.

Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was born on June 28, 1995, in Sedgefield, Western Cape. The beauty of the Western Cape is fluent in English and Afrikaans. Her parents are Bennie Peters and Anne-Mari Steenkamp.
