'The Bear' Star Jeremy Allen White & the Power of Dirty Shoes

Jeremy Allen White, he of The Bear and Shameless fame, knows his way around an effortless summer flex. The actor only just stepped out in the easiest, sleaziest outfit I've seen since the days of Pete Davidson's relevance and here he is again, a week or two later, with another home run.

Jeremy Allen White, he of The Bear and Shameless fame, knows his way around an effortless summer flex. The actor only just stepped out in the easiest, sleaziest outfit I've seen since the days of Pete Davidson's relevance and here he is again, a week or two later, with another home run.

Seen out and about getting gas in Malibu, Jeremy Allen White wore an iteration of his uniform: unbuttoned short-sleeved shirt, slouchy stacked jeans, and beat-up white Nike sneakers. This time he's wearing the Cortez instead of the Air Force 1 but the steeze is the same.

In fact, I want to particularly zoom in on Allen White's kicks, as there's something especially interesting about his footwear game.

Go back in time and you'll notice that no matter how young he is, Jeremy Allen White almost always wears white shoes. Sure, there's a New Balance 550 here and an adidas there, but it's all about the white sneakers. Damn, Daniel, and all that.

There's great utility in a white sneaker, obviously, as they're perpetually one of the most popular colorways for any daily driver — in summertime especially — but what I like about the way Allen White wears his kicks is that he's not afraid to beat 'em up.

Sneakers always look better with some wear and/or tear, and Allen White's scuffed Nikes add a nice bit of personality to his otherwise unaffected outfits.

No one looks cool when their clothes are squeaky clean. I mean, sure, a crisp suit or dress is fine for work or formal events or whatever but, for daily duds, garms that don't look lived-in look boring.

Like, the photo of Jeremy Allen White at the top of this article isn't exactly displaying the world's wildest outfit, but he looks good because it's all being worn well.

The accessorizing — cap and jewelry — helps but it's all about the easy blue shirt, the relaxed slouch of the pants, those well-worn shoes. That's called style.

If you're gonna take any lesson away from Allen White — besides that his character on The Bear wears nice T-shirts — it's that you should take care of your clothes without babying them.

Find your favorite garments, be they simple staples or funky twists, and wear them until you're comfortable enough in them to not have to think about how you wanna style them.

Then, maybe you'll also get your first Emmy nom.
