Considering the remand request, the Thamarassery Judicial First Class Magistrate on Thursday sent Jolly to police custody for seven days.

The custody period will end next Wednesday.

Though the police requested custody for 10 days, the court granted only seven days. No bail application has been filed for Jolly. The court rejected the bail applications moved for the two suspects – Mathew and Prajikumar – who allegedly helped Jolly to commit murders. he two were also sent to police custody.

Aloor to appear for Jolly

On Thursday, BA Aloor, an advocate with a reputation for appearing for accused in sensational cases, received Jolly's vakalatnama (a document empowering a lawyer to act for and on behalf of his client). She signed the consent letter when Aloor's representatives met her at the court. The lawyer will appear for Jolly when the court considers the case next time.

Talking to reporters in Kochi, Aloor said prosecution cannot produce evidences to prove Jolly's crime. “It is impossible to produce evidences against her. I will ensure Jolly's legal victory,” he said.

Lawyers practising at Thamarassery had refused to represent Jolly and Prajikumar given the shocking nature of the crimes. Another accused, M S Mathew, managed to find a lawyer from Kozhikode.

Jolly booed

Despite the heavy police security, people booed Jolly when she was taken to the court. Jolly covered her face with a shawl while entering and exiting the court.

Manorama News reported that Jolly and other accused did not answer the judge's three questions.

Prior to the investigation, the three suspects have been taken to Koyilandi government hospital for medical tests.

Meanwhile, officials have alleged that Jolly had cheated them to forge the fake will. The panchayat secretary said that she had got the title deed changed through fraudulent means. After it was found that Jolly had forged the documents, Jolly's ownership rights were cancelled.
