Forward-thinking Spurs can outscore rivals

Despite a lengthy injury list, Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou still wants his team to play on the front foot, so another entertaining contest is likely when they host West Ham.

Spurs were excellent in the second half of their 3-3 draw at Manchester City on Sunday after a dramatic first 10 minutes in which Son Heung-min scored at both ends.

There were mitigating circumstances for their three-game losing streak before that: they were reduced to nine men in the 4-1 home loss to Chelsea, conceded two injury-time goals at Wolves and had eight shots on target while hitting the woodwork twice in the 2-1 home defeat by Aston Villa.

Spurs have the quality to get back to winning ways against West Ham but a clean sheet may be beyond them as both teams have scored in nine of their previous 11 league games.

All seven of the Hammers’ away league matches this term have featured goals from both sides, although they have struggled against the top teams in the division, losing 3-1 to Liverpool and Manchester City and going down 4-1 at Aston Villa.

Lo Celso can seize chance again

Tottenham’s injury crisis has offered an opportunity for one of the club’s forgotten men, Giovani Lo Celso, and he looks a big price to open the scoring on Thursday.

Lo Celso has started Spurs’ last two league games, having previously played only 39 minutes of Premier League football this term, and he scored the opener against Villa in their most recent home match.

The Argentina midfielder also found the net in Sunday’s draw at City and he may be moved into a more advanced role behind Son on Thursday.

Lo Celso should be feeling sharper as his match fitness improves so it may be worth backing his surprising hot streak in front of goal to continue.

Bank on Bowen in bet builder

Postecoglou’s Spurs have been involved in some lively encounters recently and the Irons also like to put on a show, so over 3.5 goals looks a solid first selection for our bet builder.

Eight of the Hammers’ 14 league matches this season have produced at least four goals and their England forward Jarrod Bowen may well contribute to the tally in north London.

Bowen has had a superb start to the league campaign, scoring eight goals and claiming one assist in his first 13 outings, and he also scored in last month’s EFL Cup win over Arsenal.

Complete the 17/1 bet builder with Spurs midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to be shown a card.

With Pape Matar Sarr doubtful and Bryan Gil failing to impress against City, Hojbjerg could make only his third league start of the season and he has already picked up three bookings.
